Non-removable (fixed) prostheses

One of the most common types of permanent prostheses is dental bridge. This is used when there is a loss of several teeth which are close to each other.

To install a dental bridge is important the presence of two healthy teeth that will become pillars for the future prosthesis. In this case the most commonly used are the dental crowns that are put on the pillar teeth, forming the body of dental bridge that replaces the place with missing teeth.

Firstly, the doctor polishes the teeth where the crowns will be placed and then casts the whole jaw. Till the moment that the non-removable prosthesis is ready, the doctor puts a temporary one made of plastic and hardens it with temporary special cement, which will be easily removed at the next visit at the dentist and the non-removable prosthesis will be fixed.

After installing the crowns, the doctor checks their condition and how well they are fixed; next he passes to the bridge installation. In other words, the bridge is fixed on the crowns with temporary cement that will be removed in the case if the patient is satisfied with the dental bridge and if it must not be corrected.

The advantages of such prostheses are: stability, restore aesthetics, full compensation of lost teeth. If the bridge is done correctly, no one will notice its presence. Bridges are usually durable enough because they are made of porcelain-fused-to-metal (metal-ceramics).

Metal-ceramics bridges will serve with "fidelity", so you can eat, speak and smile confidently. Moreover, the biggest advantage of non-removable prosthesis compared to removable ones is that the first needs to be taken out in the evenings etc.!

In case of non-removable prostheses the food leftovers are not present under them, they do not move, deform and generally very rarely they cause trouble. Moreover it is much easier and faster to get used to them.

Therefore, if you decide to install a dental bridge, then you have nothing to lose. Yes, a disadvantage may be that the teeth under the crowns are polished, but this is offset by the convenience offered.

Additionally, the metal-ceramics, from which the dental bridges are made, are more convenient because it does not cause irritation compared to plastic. Ceramics is closer in composition to the bone tissue of the tooth.
